Work Smarter, Not Harder in Divi

Divi is incredibly powerful, but without the right habits, it can feel slow and repetitive. The tips below are practical, immediately actionable, and applicable to beginners and experienced Divi builders alike. Implement even half of these, and you'll notice a measurable improvement in how fast you build.

1. Master the Right-Click Menu

Right-clicking any module, row, or section in the visual builder opens a context menu with options to copy, paste, duplicate, disable, lock, and delete. You can also copy/paste styles between modules of the same type — massive for keeping designs consistent without re-entering settings manually.

2. Use Global Presets

Divi's Global Presets system lets you save a module's design settings and apply them to every instance of that module type across your site. To use: open any module settings, click the Presets tab (the diamond icon), and save your current settings as a new preset. Apply it to other modules with one click. Change the global preset later and all instances update automatically.

3. Save to the Divi Library Often

The Divi Library lets you save sections, rows, or entire page layouts. Use it to build a personal library of your most-used components — hero sections, CTA banners, testimonial rows. Next project, load them in seconds instead of building from scratch. You can even export and import library items between sites.

4. Learn the Essential Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z: Undo
  • Ctrl+Y / Cmd+Y: Redo
  • Ctrl+S / Cmd+S: Save
  • Ctrl+F / Cmd+F: Find module (search your page)

5. Use Multi-Select to Edit in Bulk

Hold Ctrl (or Cmd) and click multiple modules to select them at once. You can then move, copy, or delete them as a group. This is especially useful when reorganizing a complex page layout.

6. Build in Wireframe Mode

Wireframe Mode (toggle it in the bottom toolbar) shows your page as a clean block structure without any visual styling. It's much faster to rearrange layouts in wireframe mode than in the full visual editor when you're doing structural work.

7. Use Divi's Theme Builder for Repeating Elements

Stop building headers and footers on every page. The Divi Theme Builder lets you create header, footer, and body templates that apply globally or to specific page types. Build once, deploy everywhere.

8. Set Default Module Styles

In Divi's Theme Customizer, you can set default styles for all modules — default button colors, heading fonts, body text sizes, and more. Setting these up before you start building means every new module already matches your brand without extra configuration.

9. Disable Modules Instead of Deleting Them

Right-click a module and choose Disable to hide it from the front end without deleting it. This is perfect for A/B testing ideas or temporarily hiding a section during a site update. The module stays in your layout, invisible until you re-enable it.

10. Use the Divi Leads Split Testing Tool

If you're building marketing pages, take advantage of Divi's built-in split testing (A/B testing) feature. Found in the page settings, it lets you test two versions of a section or module to see which one performs better — without a third-party tool.

Build a Repeatable Process

The biggest workflow win isn't any single tip — it's consistency. Develop a repeatable build process: start with the Theme Builder, set global colors and fonts, build your layout from saved library sections, and apply global presets. Over time, your toolkit grows and each new site takes less time than the last.
