What Is the Divi Blurb Module?

The Blurb module is one of the most widely used modules in the Divi Builder. It combines an icon or image with a title and body text into a single, self-contained block. Think of it as the perfect building block for feature lists, service highlights, team bios, and icon-driven content sections.

If you've ever visited a website with a row of three icons, each above a short headline and paragraph, that layout almost certainly uses a Blurb module (or its equivalent). Divi's Blurb module makes building this kind of content quick, clean, and fully customizable.

When Should You Use the Blurb Module?

  • Feature/benefit sections: Highlight 3–4 key features of a product or service.
  • Services pages: Give each service its own icon, name, and short description.
  • How-it-works sections: Number each blurb to create a visual step-by-step flow.
  • Team profiles: Use a photo instead of an icon with a name and role as the title.
  • Stats or highlights: Pair a bold number with an icon to make metrics stand out.

Setting Up a Basic Blurb Module

  1. In the Divi Builder, add a new row with your desired column layout (3 columns is the most common for blurbs).
  2. Click the "+" button inside a column and search for "Blurb".
  3. In the Content tab, enter your title and body text.
  4. Choose between an icon (from Divi's built-in icon library) or an image upload.
  5. Set icon/image placement: top, left, or left stacked.

Customizing the Blurb Module: Design Tab Options

The Design tab is where Blurb modules go from generic to great. Here's a breakdown of the key settings:

Icon & Image Settings

  • Icon Color: Match your brand's accent color for consistency.
  • Icon Size: Scale the icon independently from the text. 40–60px works well for most layouts.
  • Use Circle Icon: Toggle on to add a circular background behind the icon — great for a more modern look.
  • Circle Background Color: Use a light tint of your primary color for a subtle, professional effect.

Typography

  • Set a distinct Title Font to make each blurb's heading stand out.
  • Use a slightly smaller Body Font Size (14–15px) to keep descriptions compact and readable.
  • Adjust title color to match your site's heading color for consistency.

Spacing

Use the Margin and Padding controls to add breathing room around each blurb. Adding 20–30px of padding inside the blurb module works well if you're placing them on a colored background or inside a card-style design.

Adding a "Read More" Link

Under the Content tab, you'll find a URL field that turns the entire Blurb into a clickable link. Alternatively, enable the "Use Icon as Link" option to make only the icon clickable. This is useful for service pages where each blurb links to a dedicated service detail page.

Pro Tip: Hover Animations on Blurbs

In the Advanced tab, scroll down to Transform and Filters to add hover effects. A subtle translateY(-4px) transform on hover gives blurbs a "lift" effect that adds polish. You can also use the Divi Hover Options (the moon icon in the Design tab) to change icon color or background on hover — all without CSS.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Mixing icon styles: Stick to one icon set (all outline, all filled, or all flat) for visual cohesion.
  • Too much body text: Blurbs work best with 2–3 sentences. Long paragraphs lose the visual rhythm.
  • Uneven column heights: If blurbs have different content lengths, enable Equalize Column Heights in the row settings to keep them aligned.
